This would not be a great rpg for beginners. Chained Echoes does give you some tutorials to help out but once you get going, it doesn’t hold your hand. You’ll have to level up a lot and upgrade your weapons/armor a lot too. If you’re a fan of classic rpgs, then you’ll love Chained Echoes. The world is pretty open too and there is so much to do. The gameplay in Chained Echoes, meanwhile, feels like an SNES jrpg, turn-based battles for the win, mixed with modern day ideas like saving anywhere and changing characters in and out of battle. Chained Echoes has an excellent storyline. The cast of characters are all iconic and interesting. The storyline is just as complex and interesting as classics like Final Fantasy 6. However, what makes it fresh is its unique combat system. The premise is familiar and typical of an adventure RPG. The game takes you to a fantasy world designed with 16-bit SNES-style pixel art. Overall, Chained Echoes is a game you can pick up if you are looking for a good turned-based game. It also uses a system that can extend the time required to complete more trivial battles. However, players will notice that the combat needs time to understand. The developer put attention to detail in the various scenes and made each biome look different from one another. More than its fast-paced battles, one thing to point out is the game's stunning pixel art. You can see enemies running around anywhere. As noted, there are no random encounters. You will also have your Mech, which you can use to travel and fight.
Of course, you will be armed with complex skills and equipment. As you explore, you will also fight enemies in turn-based battles. However, as the world is filled with vicious foes, bringing peace to the land is easier said than done. To do so, they must travel through a wide array of landscapes, spanning from wind-tanned plateaus and exotic archipelagos to forgotten dungeons and sunken cities. As mentioned, it stars a group of heroes who are tasked to end the war between the three kingdoms of the continent.
